Paralimin Hospital. Do I need to take a ticket and wait for the number to be called to see the doctor if I only need a renewal for my prescription? I have a prescription book, but don't really understand the system.

The first window on the left as you're facing the screens is for repeat perscriptions only, in theory you shouldn't need a ticket but to be honest if you take one you can't be wrong. When you arrive just join the queue (such as it is) A couple of weeks ago when i went this window didn't seem to be being used for this purpose and we were told quite rudly to take a ticket and wait our turn Confused (only to end up at the same wndow & i had a ticket anyhow) But it was definitely back in action when i was there today.

You need to go to the window because they put your prescribing doctor's stamp on the prescription before you take it to the pharmacy.

Thanks kdepp77 and Deanna. But now I'm really confused. Previously I collected a ticket and then waited to see the GP for a new prescription. I then heard about 'the window.' It now seems that I still have to get a ticket and wait for the number to be called. If I do this, do I have to push into the line which seems to form at the first window when the number is called, and then do I still have to see the GP for a new prescription? Sorry to rattle on but I'm really quite simple.

You need to see a doc for a prescription. Usual routine to book in and see the doc. When they are about to write out the prescription ask the doc to write the next repeat one out ready for you as well.
Collect your meds as usual
When you are due the repeat one (do not go to far in advance) which was pre written, take a ticket and go to the far left window just join the queue at the window do not wait for your number to come up, ask for the labels for the repeat and hand in your book, med card and 2. They print and stick them on, tick it off the computer and off you go to Pharmacy to collect meds.

The next time you see a doc again do the same ask for the repeat to be written ready.

Word of caution; don't try and pick-up your repeat prescription before the two-month limit or the pharmacy will send you back home!!
