THIS IS HOW OUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS ARRIVED IN CYPRUS? WE DROPPED EVERYTHING OFF AT ANDREWS SHIPPING IN ENFIELD AND PAID FOR THEM TO LOAD THE CONTAINER. THIS IS HOW IT ARRIVED!!
THE BIKES (NEVER RIDDEN IN THE UK NOW UNRIDEABLE - WHEELS BUCKLED, PEDALS BENT, CHAINS OFF, SCRATCHES, PART OF SEAT MISSING AND EVEN THE BELL MISSING OFF ONE!) - BEAUTY TROLLEY UNUSEABLE AS PARTS OF WHEELS MISSING AND RUNG COMPLETELY SNAPPED OFF, PLUS VERY SCRATCHED (NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL FOR A BEAUTY THERAPIST TO USE!) - MANICURE TABLED ALSO RUINED (YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE LEGS FOR THIS STICKING OUT ON PICTURE 5 AND THE TOP STICKING OUT ON PICTURE 3). ANOTHER TROLLEY WAS UNUSEABLE (WE HAD TWO THE SAME SO MANAGED TO MAKE ONE GOOD ONE OUT OF THE TWO).
ANDREWS SHIPPING SHOULD GET BONUS POINTS FOR THE BRIGHT SPARK WHO DECIDED TO PUT A LARGE SLIM BOX MARKED FRAGILE ON BOTH SIDES IN THE MIDDLE OF A PALLET (SHOWN IN PICTURE 6) AND THEN PUT A HEAVY DOG CREATE ON TOP OF IT, FOLLOWED BY A BEAUTY COUCH AND THEN JUST TO TOP IT OFF TWO BOXES WITH GARDEN SUN LOUNGERS IN THEM - NO SURPRISE THE CONTENTS OF THE SLIM BOX (4 LARGE PICTURE FRAMES) WERE SMASHED TO SMITHERINES!!
WE HAVE LOTS MORE PICTURES IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM AND IF ANYONE COULD OFFER SOME LEGAL ADVICE WE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.
IN THEIR FAVOUR, ANDREWS SHIPPING DID OFFER US COMPENSATION OF Ł275.00 - AREN'T WE THE LUCKY ONES!!! - AND YES I AM BEING SARCASTIC!!

Hi, Sorry to read of the problems you experienced - not a very good start is it. Just a couple of questions: Did you pack the items yourselves i.e. how were the bikes/trolley packed? Did you take out any insurance with them? Have you sent the photos to Andrews? Cheers Steve

Did you pack the items yourselves i.e. how were the bikes/trolley packed?
Most of the stuff was in boxes but Andrews said they would pack the larger items. All they did was put gaffer tape from the seat to the front handlebars and wrote my name on it.
Did you take out any insurance with them?
We did loss but Andrew said we wouldnt need accidental damage as they had never had problems before.
Have you sent the photos to Andrews?
I have and Andrew showed them to Management. I have the distributorship for Cyprus for Harley waxes and bodywraps and they are shipping this out to me also. They have reduced the cost from 575 euros to 300 euros, hence the 275 euros discount.
I have told them the damage is not accidental damage it is incompetence on their packing department's side, but at present it is falling on deaf ears.

Just to say that I have used Andrews before with no problems or damage. I hope you can keep talking to them and sort it out between you. Regards, Ruth

Must say,
I used Andrews to ship all my home over, including 2 motorbikes, various tools and have since used them many times for various items including tv's fridges and even a quad bike without any issues.
Not sure if you were just unlucky or what, but guess many more have been more than happy with the service and even the prices they have recived as for them to still shipping

We used Andrews when we moved 3 yrs ago & had no problems at all. Our container load included all my husbands model railway - some of which is very fragile, several large machanical items, his BMW 1200cc Motorbike & my collection of books. I've recomended them to others since & wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I'm sorry you have had problems & hope you can sort it out.

Used Andrews shipping to get all our personal stuff here when we moved .
A lot of it was fragile stuff .
Everything arrived here in perfect condition ~ the packing was done by Andrews shipping employees who were really good.
The only complaints I have with this firm are:-
They gave us a date our shipment would arrive and it got here two weeks earlier which put us in a bit of a spot as we had nowhere to put it all.
When the shipment arrived we got a telephone call from Andrews Cyprus agents telling us there was CYŁ200 to pay if we wanted it to be delivered to the door otherwise we would have to pick it up from Limassol ourselves
A quick call to Andrews London office sorted that out and it was delivered the next day at no extra charge
Would I use them again ? ~~ probably not even though we didn't have to many problems I wasn't really convinced they ~(or more important their agents here in Cyprus) knew what they were doing
Had to smile when I saw the pics ~~ the first and second pics looked exactly like our delivery

I have used Andrews on many occasions and no problems. I also take out insurance every time to be safe and no problems. I don't think they would have advised you against insurance maybe you misunderstood. Never had any problems and would recommend them.

I agree with tangutica.. I worked in transport industry for 30 years and its a basic rule that personal effects clients are strongly advised to check if their household insurance covers their moving house (which some do), and if not - to get insured. Things can and do go wrong - there are so many people/machinery involved in handling the goods to complete the delivery.....insurance is a must.

Comments on here are very useful, I'm about to use them!

I firmly believe that when you have a problem with any business you should give them a chance to put things right before complaining publicly about them. Did they supply the boxes and cartons to you? I ask because they seem to be all different shapes and sizes. And some of it appears not to be boxed at all? What exactly have you asked them to do to make you happy - are you satisfied with the financial reduction on your next shipment - was that their idea or yours? Does the money they are going to knock off cover the loss through damage? Going by what most others are saying you were very unlucky. I find it incredible that they advised you NOT to take out insurance for damage though.

Yes. When I shipped my stuff they brought the regulation sized boxes and cartons and bubble wrap and tape round to me in advance. Every box was printed up with this way up signs and a form so you could list the contents in it with marker pen. Also had to make lists of all the stuff and its value. Absolutely NOTHING went unboxed. And even though I did the packing of the boxes, nothing at all was damaged apart from a slight corner crack in a quite large glazed painting.
What I'm looking at in those photos is nothing like what mine looked like. I arranged for them to deliver to my door from Limassol port and they turned up with all my cartons looking EXACTLY as they did when packed and in fact brought them right up into my flat for me.
I don't even remember having to decide about insuring? But obviously I would have taken the option if it was optional. In fact they told me exactly what to do about claiming for the damage to the frame but in the end I decided not to bother as it was hardly life altering and I couldn't be @rsed with the paperwork etc. Just got it reframed in a local shop.

Andrews supply boxes in two sizes and came to look at we wanted to move and brought enough boxes and packing stuff for the move on the day. the packers were quick and very professional all our stuf arrived un damaged even things that I was sure wud be broken . the stuff arriving two weeks early was a surprise /shock as we were not ready for it -- then the Cyprus agents wanting more money to deliver was a classic--wen it was eventually delivered the to guys were waiting for a tip so I told them next time don't try and take the piss with a greek cuz it wont work -- my words of wisdom were my tip for the day lol Bill
