Hi All, New series just started the other day - so thought I would get a thread started  Bit difficult at the early stages to see who will shine through but some strong characters no doubt. Candidates as good as previous years?? Judges still out on that one. Your thoughts? Cheers Steve

As usual with this program, young thrusters with very big ego's and very few morals and all prepared to drop to their knee's in front of Sir Alan.

Should Rocky have been fired? Yes.... I think it was the correct decision. The Greek outfits he arranged for the blokes to wear were not only a waste of money, but looked ridiculous. (Well, that's my opinion anyway) Noreen

Being from the catering trade, I was appalled to see the catering candidates showing such a bad show, in both food quality and service!! I would love to see that girls 'award' winning restaurant. What award, most likely the local rag competition, as I can't believe she runs an establishment worthy of an award.....she may have won hands down but to pay £4 for a sandwich is nonsense and if they looked at the repeat business the next day, she too would have made a loss bigtime! However, great TV, but I guess thats what its all about - big ego's looking for a break on tv......now where's that application form....

Could,nt agree more what a bossy rude person she was, why is it that budding entrepeneurs think the way ahead has to be so........nasty  and I,m sorry those canopies were like doorstops, and if quality is cut like that in her 'roadside cafe' then god help the customers! Surely quality counts, I,m surprised at the girls not saying they found her a insane project leader, but of course there is always next week..... |

Hi, Suprised the girls turned a profit - food looked awful! What happened to the boys selling during the day? They should have sold more and stayed out longer. Not right keen on this bunch this time - I guess it's still early days but in previous series some of the participants had something about them. Maybe they are running out of contestants but this can't be the best that applied?? Anyway should Rocky have been fired - probably or James. Let's see what happens next week :) Cheers Steve

JAMES should have gone - what a pompous ass++le he is
Posted By: LynSab
James, orrible nasty  , Rocky though young and green was likeable and I think would learn well, probably Sir A was worried about him as running 15 sandwich bars and employing 150 people is to much at his age. He did,nt need this programme at all, he is already well on his way.

So I've now found out the 'award' that good old Yasmina (and her brother) have for their restaurant - its a local award from their council or something, not even a catering specific award and therefore does not really mean anything like a michelin star would!! Its a bit like my local chippy, its been an award winning place for some years, but its only from the local newspaper!!

Her food might have been a bit crap but she certainly organised / bossed that lot about in a style many men are only too familiar with.
Posted By: DAC
That Lad James has a face that I'd just have to hit every time I saw him. Don't know why, but it has 'Target' written all over it.......

What I don't understand is if you have that much chutzpah why aren't you applying for a 100k job anyway?
Posted By: Jacs
I also think Rocky should have gone. I want James to go next. Don't like the pompous arrogant so and so.

never watched this is it any good?
Posted By: DAC
In a nut shell - No. It's kind of like a modern day version of 'Now Get out of That' but for wood-be business people with no scruples, morales or any kind of respect for other people. But that said, it's worth watching just to see how far they will go to stab each other in the back. ADDED Just in case anyone can't remember that great TV show of yester-year Linky Winky |

I met Mr Sugar many moons ago in his 'A.M. Sugar Trading" days (Amstrad) when he was flogging crappy amplifiers (and I gt commission to push them over more capable equptment). What a prat, I thought at the time. I wonder why I didn't win a ticket to the Notts Forest V Wolves League Cup Final?

Didn't agree with Sir Alan's decision this week - I think Philip should have been fired. Not only was the idea - "Pants" - stupid, but his whole attitute was out of order (not forgetting his singing) Noreen

But Philip's has TV watching appeal, waiting for his next ego trip

Thanks Sugar Ray is desperately trying to tie up a make or break deal and is in a five star hotel, ordering drinks for three potential investors. He spots Sir Alan Sugar coming out of a lift, excuses himself and approaches Sir Alan. "Pardon the intrusion Sir Alan, but I was rather hoping that you might help me secure a very important deal. If you would just be so very kind as to speak to me as you pass by my table. A simple Hello Ray, how are you, coming from such a great businessman as yourself, would impress my contacts in a seriously big way, Ray fawned." Sir Alan says. " I'm impressed by your forward thinking young man and as a self made man, I'm always ready to help out a go getter." Ray profusely thanks him and returns to his table. Shortly after, one of the marks stutters. "Sir Alan Sugar's here and it looks like he's heading this way." They all stare, wide eyed as sure enough, Sir Alan is making a beeline for their table. He stops in front of them and..."Hi there Ray, how's it going? we must have a drink together soon." The three guys gape as Ray says.. "F**k off Alan, can't you see that I'm busy?"

Congratulations to Yasminia on being the winner of The Apprentice. Kate was very good but I think Yasminia had the edge. Will miss this programme on Wednesdays. Noreen

Hi Noreen, Caught up late on the final but for me I think Kate should have won. That said I warmed more to Debra as the series went on and although she had a few bad points at 23 could she have changed?? Would have liked to have seem Debra & Kate in the final as I wasn't convinced by Yasmina. Anyway not a bad series though like anything think the earlier series had better characters in them. Might have to catch up on the US version lol :) Cheers Steve

I'll miss it too. I think it was the best series so far. Apparently Srallen wants all redundancees (is that a word?) to apply for next year!!! My son has applied for the 16-17 junior apprentice. I wonder what Srallen has in store for the kids? That will be interesting. Ruth
Posted By: salopman
First of all well done to Yasmina but I think the wrong girl won. Kate was far more polished and business like, she was attractive and seemed to have a knack of dealing with people and situations. I thought Yasminas presentation was awful on the chocolate episode. However Im sure they will both do very well indeed. Roll on the next one!
Posted By: Balconia
Of the two applicants that reached the final, I am pleased that Sir Alan chose Yasmina as imho she was the better applicant. I agree that Kate was great at 'pitching', looked pretty and said all the right things - but it was as though she was reading from a script - for me she was cold and robotic, and got it completely wrong on both the price and the packaging of the chocs. I would have liked to have seen Debra and James in the final, as in the long run either of them would have made better long term employees for Sir Alan.

Agree with Balconia, Kate far too 'rehearsed' for my liking whereas Yiasmina at least has some 'fire in her belly' and has already proved she is a business-woman with her catering venture. I am glad not to have to tune-in to the big smile any longer.
