here's a clue how it works: Think of a number between 2 and 9 Multiply the number by 9 Add the two digits together Subtract 5 from the number you now have Convert the number into a letter - 1 = a, 2 = b, and so on Think of a European Country starting with that letter Now think of the second letter of that country Think of a mammal that starts with that letter What colour is that animal? By the time you get to the next mail in this thread I will have had time to read your mind (unless it's all a trick?)

Were you thinking of a grey elephant from Denmark?

Posted By: journeyman

No a Black wolf from Birmingham. Graham

white ostrich from norway :? Tracey x

Feel I have to point out that people from Wolverhampton tend to get upset if someone says they're from Brum - think of it as being similar to describing a Scot as 'English', or an inhabitant of Sunderland as 'Geordie'. Anyway, it's a mathematical curiosity of the number '9'. If you multiply any number between 2 and 9 by 9, the two digits of the resulting figure added together will always total 9, 2x9=18, 1+8=9 or 7x9=63, 6+3=9. (no idea how you managed to get 14, Tracey) If you subtract 5 from 9, you are left with 4, which is assigned to the letter 'D'. The only European country with this intitial is Denmark, and the only mammal  starting with 'e' is elephant. Similarly, using the instructions at http://www.milaadesign.com/wizardy.html you will always find that you get the answer '9' (or a multiplicant of 9, e.g. 18,27,81) and the same symbol appears at these numbers - the symbol changes each time you try it, to add to the effect. All the other numbers seem to have symbols randomly arranged.

Hi folks, I even tried to cheat it by deliberately looking at a wrong number. Didn't work. The post before me was interesting!! Cheers, Campbell.

sorry my mistake when i did it again i had forgot to add my numbers together.... its been one of those days  Tracey x

Kwacka I knew that about Brum and the Wolves just having you on a bit, Oh by the way ELK is also a mammal. Cheers  Graham

Posted By: Kwacka

Yes, I realised - that's why I put the smiley. Thanks for making it even more complicated with 'elk'. Just listened to the game - 1-0 win with 10 men all the second half, still going forward in the 88th minute - it would never have happened under Hoddle.

Ignore posts #9 and #13. I STILL think it's magic. I used to like the pantomimes and leave mince pies and sherry for Santa!

Posted By: Kwacka

'used to' leave mince pies & sherry out for Santa? You mean you don't leave them out? And nothing for those poor reindeer? 8) BTW, heard on the radio the other day that Harrods have opened their Christmas section (all 15,000sq.ft. of it). I have to agree with the reporter who said he felt sorry for the staff having to put up with 'festive' tunes for the next 4 months. Another advantage of living in Cyprus - except it seems that each year commerce seems to get its foot further through the door.
