| In anticipation of the possible big move from the US to Cyprus, I was wondering how likely it would be for me to find some sort of part-time employment in Cyprus being that I am not an EU citizen. I am an engineer (environmental, chemical, nuclear) so I have some smarts. But I don't expect to find engineering work. In fact the move to Cyprus is a semi-retirement thing. But I have good people skills, am detail-oriented, am an excellent coordinator of all things, and have traveled extensively (making me a good candiate for the tourism industry). I am not looking to make tons of money, just something to occupy my time, keep me active, etc. Do you think I could find some kind of work or is the non-EU citizen issue going to be a big problem? |

| Hi. This is a question often asked but rarely answered satisfactorily - it is difficult enough finding a wage enough to live on in Cyprus if you are an EU citizen. If you were a Herbalife distributor for example in the States there is a very active Herbalife organisation here in Cyprus which you could build in if you are good at it, or perhaps you can find some other field of entrepreneurial endeavor which would appeal to the ex-pat population - try logging on to the ecademy.com web site and checking out the small 'Cyprus' club there and if you like what you see there I could arrange to send you an invite to join if you ask in this forum. | Hi, I think there is a shortage of decently qualified engineers so you may be able to get some consultancy work. If there is nothing available it is only a short hop to the Middle East where there is a lot of consultancy work available. |
