Now that the swallows are nesting they have become very aggressive, swooping down at cats and people on the balcony. But what I saw yesterday takes the biscuit: a hawk was making its presence felt by circling a busy flock of swallows; suddenly one broke away and started chasing the hawk. It worried the hawk by flying straight at it several times until the hawk flew off. Not satisfied, this little swallow kept up the chase until they were both out of sight. Sort of "I didn't fly 1,000 km here to be frightened off by a silly old Cyprus hawk!"

because my flat hasn't been occupied since I bought and moved into the house in oroklini the swallows it seems have taken over my balcony as their property so when I make a occassional visit to the flat the swallows try to attack in an effort to protect what they believe is their home . It can be quite unnerving being dive bombed by 20 to 30 birds Bill

I've enjoyed watching them build nests in the corners of verandahs opposite me. Boy are they busy little birds.
