Not just in Cyprus UK , USA (just one of 20) , and many other countries.
Cyprus deniers are third from the bottom of the list, only the USA & Turkey outdo them.

(Public perception of theory of evolution, Miller, 2005)
The same person that wrote the letter has set up a petition here directed to the Cyprus Government (Google translation works, but can't sign).
here's another open letter , this one to the Kansas School Board in 2005.

If anybody can explain the following I'll be a believer:
How did the kangeroos hop all the way from Australia?
How did Noah know when all the insects were on board?
How did he manage to live to be 700 years old?

He lived to be 700 years old because he lived on a planet that circled its sun around 10 times faster than the Earth around our sun, so the years were shorter!

We now know that a flood did engulf the then known world at the time of Noah. This means that kangaroos did not need to hop all the way to australia, they were already there. Credible reports of gopher wood being found in the melt water of a glacier on Mt Ararat which were carbon dated and used the ring theory of trees have been recorded. Also there are aerial photos held by the American forces of a boat shaped object embedded in the same glacier recorded in the 1940,s. At the current moment there is no generally accepted theory of across species development of new species until recent cloning trials and experiments. There is certainly no evidence of such trans species. If this is accepted as a theory where is the evidence in all the current work to discover new species, surely we would have found some species making the transition. Instead all we have are theories about something happening millions of years ago. It is as if the mechanism or conditions allowing for such events have been totally lost. Having debated this subject in a number of UK universities and been a guest lecturer on it in several parts of the world, this subject is worthy of much more quality discussion than it is so far getting here.

now I am depressed :( signed ..... and hoping it is removed by the time my daughters start Biology lessons at school. And there was me thinking that it was just the nationalism taught in the run up to April 1 I had to deal with ..............

Yes, Pluto is now classified as a 'dwarf planet' or 'plutoid'. It was an easy mistake to make, Pluto & it's moon Charon are so close to each other, so far away and so small that the was considered to be one body until about 1980.
Theory of gravity hasn't been over-ruled (as yet) and the work on black holes suggested a couple of hundred years ago and supported by Einstein's general theory of relativity from 1916 also haven't been over-ruled and changed, but developed as knowledge is gained.
I.e. science, at this time, accepts that an error was made regarding Pluto, but ( as yet ) has found no evidence to disprove theories regarding gravity. However, as I understand it, nobody can state how gravity works.
Pastafarians propose that it is because the FSM holds us down to the planet with his noodly appendages and offer this evidence:
1,000 years ago the average height was 5 foot 3 inches, but there were nowhere near as many people living on the planet. Today with the extra population the average height has increased. This is because the FSM has to apply the same force to a greater population, with the result that each individual has a smaller gravitational pull and therefore grows taller.
Sounds reasonable to me. Of course I can't prove it which, in itself, is evidence it is true and so should also be taught in school science classes.

I managed to sign it Kwacka. This isn't talking about planets, the invention of the wheel or fire.

That's science, it's based upon falsifiability

but belief isn't.
BTW, please excuse my curiosity, but what has changed since your school days?

I shouldn't be surprised - but I still am.
