think its pretty well par for the course spurs. ambasadors arent known for suffering fools gladly or being subjected to searches not legally applicable to diplomats.

EU regulations specifically allow for giving security checks to those with diplomatic immunity.

In my opinion, when it comes to ambassadors travelling on any kind of public transport, there should be no such thing as diplomatic immunity. They should be subject to the same strict caution as the rest of the world. Who is to say that they have not been 'got at' and are carrying something dangerous on board an aircraft, or carrying drugs as a mule in return for the safety of their family. They are, at the end of the day, still only human ....... well, most of them anyway!

Why did Cyprus apologise IF this women was in the wrong? It looks a bit heavy handed towards her, but she clearly hit the woman security officer.

Agree 100% ...how did the Libyans get the weapons, that killed the Police woman into the UK.... Diplomatic immunity, shouldn't come before a country's security.

Smooth over diplomatic relations perhaps?
Personally I think she should have been arrested and charged - the same
as would happen with the rest of us. Diplomatic immunity should not
cover this kind of behaviour and diplomats should set an example not be
an embarrassment.
Cheers
