Dear all, I am forwarding this impassioned plea addressed to all potential voters in the coming General Election. It is just so easy to shrug one’s shoulders and leave the actual voting to imaginary “others” who may also take the easy way out and neglect to exercise that most important democratic right…..The Right to Vote! If you are eligible then you are lucky! And you know what to do! Harry THE POWER OF POSITIVE ACTION! THE FUN PART………… HOW TO START EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK 1. Open a new file in your computer. 2. Name it "Gordon Brown". 3. Send it to the Recycle Bin. 4. Empty the Recycle Bin. 5. Your PC will ask you: Do you really want to get rid of “Gordon Brown”? 6. Firmly Click "Yes". 7. Feel better? GOOD - Tomorrow we'll do Peter Mandelson. The days after that, we'll zap Harriet Harman, Alistair Darling, David Miliband, Jack Straw, Alan Johnson, Hilary Benn, Douglas Alexander, John Denham, Ed Balls, Edward Miliband, Andy Burnham, Shaun Woodward, Baroness Royall of Blaisdon, Tessa Jowell, Jim Murphy, Yvette Cooper, Liam Byrne, Peter Hain, Bob Ainsworth, Lord Adonis, Ben Bradshaw, Jim Knight, Pat McFadden, John Healey, Lord Drayson, Nicholas Brown, Baroness Scotland of Asthal, Rosie Winterton, Dawn Primarolo, Sadiq Khan… That's just about all of 'em in the so-called government. There are plenty of others to expunge if you're feeling really keen. BUT SERIOUSLY……….. Then - most important of all - let's get out there on polling day and exercise our franchises. Vote early and vote often. Don't fall for all this tripe about a hung parliament - the devious pinkoes are trying to gull the great British electorate into believing that "my vote won't count" so they'll stay at home and watch it on the telly. Au contraire. mes amis. Those at home a'couch on May 6 will think themselves accursed they did not march with us in droves to the ballot box. And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks of Brown & Co left clinging to office. (With apologies to all you Shakespeare scholars out there.) Aide memoire……… Turnout in the in the 2007 general election was 61.3%, up from 59.4% in 2001, the rise being blamed on extension of postal voting that was insufficiently secure and thus open to fraud. In 2007, Labour won 356 seats – 55.2% – with 35.3% of votes cast. In other words, only a risible 21.2% of the electorate bothered to support them. Outrageous outcome. Don't let them stiff us again. 2007 election Seats Gains Losses Net change % of seats % of votes Votes Change in % of vote Labour 356 0 47 - 47 55.2% 35.3% 9,562,122 –5.4% Conservative 198 36 3 + 33 30.7% 32.3% 8,772,598 +0.6% LibDem 62 16 5 + 11 9.6% 22. %1 5,981,874 +3.7% That's what we have to overturn. So let's hear it for the Bullingdon Club. And please pass this on...

I don't think UK political propaganda (not even discussion, pure electioneering propaganda and negative at that!) is appropriate for a Cyprus Eastern forum. In any case, you forgot to add Cameron et al. to your list; if you think a spineless twerp like him is any better than Brown et al. you're in for a very nasty shock should he get in, I propose to Admin to delete all UK politics from this forum until 7 May.

What a load of rubbish!! What about freedom of speech. If Admin were to delete politics from the forum there would be hardly any discussions taking place.

Hi, Well we do have a lot of other topics apart from politics. Discussions about politics, religion etc do tend to end up in protracted arguments and we do try and avoid them. However with that said, with an election coming up in the UK many people are interested in the subject and how it might impact them (for various reasons). So long as the discussions are reasonable and people remember the phrase - conversation not confrontation then I don't see an issue. HTH Cheers Steve
