I've just put together a string of well known songs to tell a story.
What do you think?
Can anyone add a mid life or retirement medley to the collection?
Anyone got any others.
PATCHES B.B King version
I was born and raised down in Alabama
on a farm way back up in the woods
Now the years have passed
And everybody's grown
Mama's been livin'
In a brand new home
Lord knows it took
A lot of sweat and tears
And my daddy's voice
To help us through the years
GUITAR MAN Elvis Presley
Well, I quit my job down at the car wash,
Left my mama a goodbye note,
By sundown Id left kingston,
With my guitar under my coat,
FAST CAR Tracey Chapman
You got a fast car
And I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
I'd always hoped for better
Thought maybe together you and me would find it
BY THE TIME I GET TO PHEONIX Glen Campbell
By the time I get to Phoenix, she'll be rising.
She'll find the note I left hangin' on her door
IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME Yvonne Fair
You made a promise that we'd never part
& then you turned around & broke my heart
Now you're standing there saying 'I do'
Holding hands with somebody new
BEE GEES Massachusetts
Feel I'm goin' back to Massachusetts,
Something's telling me I must go home.
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
The day I left her standing on her own
IN THE GHETTO Elvis Presley
As the snow flies
On a cold and gray chicago mornin
A poor little baby child is born
In the ghetto.

| Alan99, I wouldn't mind joining in on this thread but I for one am not sure what this entails, can you please explain, Ta.|

| Hi Brian
The idea is to find a string of songs (or more precisely relevant lines) and make them into a continuing story ,like above. It needn't be a human life cycle theme.
It could be any theme.
Or , just continue on from above. The guy is moving thro his younger years : marrying (or not)
Next middle age
Middle age song : The Taxman ,by the Beatles
Another middle age song . The Living Years ,by Mike and the Mechanics.
Grandad by Clive Dunn , definately
or Ernie , The Fastest Milkman in the West by Benny Hill.
Or to continue the thread ,thro middle age (well 37 years) from the feminine aspect could be:
The Ballad of Lucy Jordan , Marianne Faithful
Hope this helps. I look forward to your contribution !
