View Original Topic: Full Tank..... Empty Tank ? ?

Hi GeordieLez
I only ever book Sixt cars, via the Thomson site. Have never had a problem, in fact, I'm usually offered a free upgrade. On my last trip, in December, they charged approx 45 euros for a full tank, though I'm not certain of this. They give you the choice of taking it back empty, or full. You only get any refund if the tank is completely full, ie nothing if it's returned 3/4 full. You then have to wait while it's credited back to your credit card. I wouldn't risk taking it back completely empty either - too risky. Even just a few euros worth of petrol gives you peace of mind.
I'll be picking up my Kia Picanto or Fabia on Weds night - can't wait!

Full tank out and full tank back so you only pay for what you use and at the price you choose. Sometimes the renters try to force you to go for the return empty option. Just say no. Of course the tank will never be empty when you return the car, so they make every time. Paul.

It is usually better to have a full tank on collection and leave a full tank going home. You then do not have to pay the Hire Company for fuel. They frequently charge somewhat on the high side for petrol. When all the items are totaled up on the invoice there is VAT added. But it shouldn't be on the fuel, as it already has duty on it. We were charged 45 Euro for 3/4 of a tank and to return empty. I topped up second week with 20 Euro worth and judging by the fuel guage I think we were over charged by at least 15 Euro

Most hire co's charge over the odds for petrol. We use autodirect and agree to return the car with the same amount of petrol in the tank as when we pick up. Ruth

Arriving May 16th Picking up Economy Car Rental from Sixt @ Airport Desk
My question is Do I agree to pay for a Full Tank of petrol & return empty or return with a full tank ? Feista/ Corsa I will use more than a tank full over the fortnight.
Does any body know how much Sixt charge for a full tank ?
Thanks [/i]
