'The fact that we have had no fewer than four Defence Secretaries in as many years - including one who was part-time - is a disgrace.
The fact that the present bumbling incumbent is officially ranked at No 21 out of the 23 ministers at the Cabinet table (compared to, say, Olympics Minister at No 16) says it all. At the same time, the Help For Heroes fund has gone from the back of an envelope to 26 million. '
Like so many others on this forum, my background is forces, husband over 24 yrs RAF, son still in RAF, 2 sons-in-law ex army.
When are the efforts and sacrifices of our forces going to be recognized as they should be?
Make do and mend is not good enough. Why should charities be expected to pick up the governments' tab?
Sorry but this really riles me.
To say that this government is taking advantage of the 'Yes we can' attitude of the services is an understatement.
Sorry after that rant, didn't say what a fantastic fella this man is.
