I am so very sad to be asking for your help...as many of you know we re-homed a puppy only this week (Thurs) which was listed in a recent thread http://www.easterncyprus.com/viewtopic.php?t=21622&highlight= Unfortunately whilst we were out for a short time this afternoon approx 4pm onwards (Saturday 18th July) our lovely little Frankie escaped (we suspect through a gap in the fence we did not realise was there). As you can see from the photograph this is a very lovely looking dog and he has a wonderful nature to match - the entire family are so distraught our eldest son in particular is going through absolute agony right now. We just ask anyone who may come across this little chap (who was due back at the vets next week to be micro-chipped) to please keep hold of him and contact us as soon as possible. We are based in Kapparis and there was a sighting of Frankie heading toward Thea Court, Paralimni direction....please keep your eyes peeled. Many many thanks!         [/url]

Will he answer to his name if called? Cheers, Jinty

Possibly...although we have only had him with us a few days and I know they called him Spencer in the Vets....he is VERY friendly though...any kind voice should attract him! Thank you for looking!

OMG, hope you find him. Have you fixed the hole for when he comes back?

This must be so heartbreaking for you Marge, you have only had him for a short while. I suspect he is a 'runner' as this is how he got lost the first time. Little Frank doesn't seem to know what's good for him. I really hope you find him. You will have to make sure there is no possible escape next time. Perhaps keep him locked in the house when you go out for the next few months until he gets used to the fact that he belongs with you. He seems a friendly little doggie, I wonder if he was off to find his original owners? This maybe what is giving him the urge to escape. Again, I hope he is discovered and returned to you, as I can tell, you all love him dearly. Ruth

Don't worry if/when we do get him home he will never escape again.... We have all been frantically searching again today, your right, Frankie really doesn't know whats good for him - we have all been heartbroken by this little chap running away - all keeping our fingers crossed! Every time we heard a bark last night hubby and I hopped out of bed, didn't sleep a wink thinking about him! A lady said she spotted him early this morning around the Karas Taverna area on Kennedy avenue, of course when my Hubby and our eldest son got there they searched high and low calling little Frankie but he never came...I just hope he is in the shade somewhere with access to water and some very kind person will take him to a vets or similar for us to find him!!! Thank you everyone for keeping your eyes peeled!

FRANKIE IS HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!                                    After a very stressful 24 hours, and a miserable weekend, we had a phone call this evening from a person who asked what we would pay for the return of our dog...we asked have you got the dog? They said NO! The caller went on to say if we look for him what will you pay (it was a withheld number)...we said when you find him call us back! We had a phone call 15 minutes later to say again what will you pay for the dog...we asked questions they wouldn't answer...this went on for some time. The man was not very nice in his tone and sounded like he was playing a game. We had a third call to say we have your dog, meet us in Protaras with €150 - we said we would offer them €50 so he hung up, then called back again to agree €100. The entire time the man seemed to be playing games he was not clear about anything! We suggested to meet at McDonald's in Protaras (as we thought this was safer with plenty of people around) which at first he was not keen on as he said there were too many people (this of course worried us) he then went on to say no people will think we are Cypriot mafia we can't meet there, all along we suspected this would turn out to be a false alarm and someone trying to scam us. We waited outside McDonald's in Protaras and the man called us approx 3 more times, first asking if we were coming, second time he asked the dogs name and last time he said are you there, where are you??? He said I will send a boy with the dog. I asked him what car he would be in, he replied blue, then black, then he said no car, then I asked are you walking, he said no, I asked are you on a motorbike, he said yes, so I asked with the dog? He said no motorbike...so as you can imagine all along we suspected it was a windup and someone trying to make a quick bit of money. We were sitting with the window open when a very scared looking young man walked past the car window with FRANKIE under his arm!!!! My husband without thinking shouted out, thats my dog, and the man threw the dog in the car and looked absolutely petrified, when my husband tried to pay him the ransom he was hiding it and trying not to take it in front of all the people, he kept repeating "make something of it"....eventually we gave him the cash and got in the car and left Protaras as fast as we could..... We cannot explain how thrilled we are to have our baby back and he was over the moon to see us too... Thank you so much to everyone who helped in the search today, our son had posted signs all over Kapparis and up towards Thea court he is now asking if you see any of these please could you take them down (I told him he may be stopped whilst walking him if people see the sign and think he has been taken!! ) For once a VERY HAPPY ENDING!!!!!!      Before anyone asks - no he will not have the opportunity to escape again!

Marge, Really very pleased for you that you have him back but the rest of the story is just awful!

Great news Marge, but a bit puzzled tho..... If he had thrown the dog in the car and looked petrified, why on earth continue on and pay him the money??????? Apologies if I'm missing something here. Cheers, Jinty

Hi Marge when i lost my cat and put posters up i had a similar call which was very very distressing. I knew they did not have her as she was in the vet. I suspect people are stealing animals for ransom. People will stoop so low. Maybe you should have kept hold of the child with the dog and let the man see how awful it is to have something you love held hostage. Did you tell the police? This is so worrying
