It has been announced that Kate and Wills are expecting a child. Kate admitted to hospital with severe morning sickness. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20586343

I have decided if it's a boy it will be named James, if a girl it will be called Mary. We could start a sweep with the members of the Forum. One euro a go with half the proceeds going to a charity. :?:

The poor lady is in hospital, likely on a drip, and you are suggesting a sweepstake on the baby's name?
How about offering some congratulations on the Royal news and wishing the Duchess of Cambridge a full and complete recovery?
When she is pronounced well (and it is confirmed that the baby is not in danger) then will be the time to celebrate.

Morning sickness (and extreme morning sickness) only affect members of the royal family? Anyone who had seen recent pictures of Kate would have recognised the fact she was pregnant. And she's not experiencing anything 'non-royals' dont.

No it doesn't. But, she's in the fairly early stages of a first pregnancy and is already experiencing some 'difficulties' regarding that. She'll be receiving the very best of care and is likely to carry to full term.
Regardless, even in the modern world, pregnancy is still a risky business and many, many would-be-mothers lose children.
I would not be putting my name to any sweepstake speculating on the baby's name until such time it is delivered alive and healthy.

Hardly poor in any sense of imagination, she will get the best of treatment. Besides if you have been watching Sky News for the last few hours the whole world will know that she is expecting a baby and as it has been stated for the last few hours everything is normal.

As soon as she got the title her blood changed colour and her body can't cope. As for names, how about some that you hear wandering round UK towns; Chantilly, Chevrolet, Scratchcard, Cabernet for example.

Is this the lady who was playing hockey last week in high heeled fashion boots ?

I'm glad for them and it will cheer the country up a bit...Apart from the republican dross and general moaners who will no doubt bitch about their taxes (IF they pay any) having another mouth to feed, ect,ect.. There are suggestions that due to the severity of her morning sickness she might be having twins...Now that would be interesting, imagine being beaten to the crown by 30 seconds!

What the bloody hell is all the fuss about? She's only a young woman going through a natural process. Now, if my wife got pregnant, that would be newsworthy because a) she is in her mid-70s, b) she has had a hysterectomy and c) Devil's willy is no longer willing as he is in his early 80s.

Posted By: Jacs

Everyday people find out that they are expexting and when the happiness and congratulations die down they will turn their attention to how much this little bundle of joy is going to cost. They start to price things to decide which pram/pushchair they can afford, along with all the other essentials. Whilst I am happy for Kate and Wills, they will have no worries about what to buy as they will have everything given to them. I bet that deals are already being done as to which company will be accepted for each of the required essentials the baby will need. Also as far as names go, Diana will probably get in somewhere if its a girl and Charles will get a mention if its a boy. As far as a multiple birth, not everyone who has this form of sickness has one. Its going to be a looonnng 9 months as the nation goes through her pregnancy with her.

Well said Devil....I hope everything goes well for her and the other millions of women who are pregnant and will not be in the privileged position of the royals who will be mollycoddled and pampered by the the best Doctors and helpers money can buy

I had Hyperemesis gravidarum when I was pregnant with my third (and definitely final :D child). It is a thoroughly miserable condition and I ended up weighing slightly less at the end of my pregnancy than I weighed at the beginning. Good luck to her, pregnancy can be draining enough without having to go through every little niggle with the world watching and putting their own spin on things

Kate Middleton has said if she has a boy she will call him by the most popular British boy's name at the moment. We look forward to the arrival of baby Mohammed.............

Don't you ever get tired of trashing the Brits Can? I mean, the potato famine ended 160 years ago - in my poverty stricken great-great -great Granparents days. Get over it man - move on!
And whilst they teach this s**t in schools people wonder why young men want to murder in revenge. Kinda has a resonance hereabouts I suppose - not that I have ever been schooled here.

Good one Tipps, had a laugh at that, but I see you don't like the truth. By jove Tipps old chap, you sure do like bringing up the past and there's me hoping the bairn looks like the dad!! Just to (very briefly) get back to the OP... I was greatly amused by a BBC radio news reader telling me that the Duchess "...is in hospital with severe nausea following the report...". Perhaps it could have been worded a little better. Cheers Alex

Got to laugh when someone, dares to say anything anti monarchy, they are accused of Trashing the Brits...when you havent got an argument ...then throw the Anti Brit slur, always works...thank God not everyone is brainwashed into bowing before the Royals, I for one will not be bowing to King Charles, yes the one who cheated on his wife, and told Camilia he dreamed of being her Tampon, Royals not for me mate.

Royals I can take em or leave them, but niether do I believe all I'm fed by Murdochs papers, having said that it's the media alone from all over the world who are parked outside the hospital, not the royals giving out the details.....normal people don't want the details forty times a day, but the worlds media ( sorry spurs I did spot Cyprus's press there as well) are the ones driving us all completely bonkers with report after report after report after report after report......
Why blame Kate and William? I don't see why, btw they cost everyone living in the UK about 80 p a year, and bring the tourists in by the millions, in Cornwall that carries dreaded Camillas name they have over 2 million tourists just in that county alone  When we get to London it's ridiculous the tourist figures, Royals figure high on the list, even the Brit population showed the following for its Royal family this Jubilee year, much as I can take em or leave em, I can't ignore the fact that they are very important economically and historically for the UK.
I'm glad though that with Kate and Wills a change is imminent with the structure of the royals and that a first born girl can now become Queen.
Don't worry spurs, I'm watching that no one UK bashes without real reason.

Lynsab fair points......Bring in tourists! France gets more tourists yet they dont have a royal family...only 80p a person a year...for me 80p to much.......The only good one is the present Queen who I think has done a splendid job In fact I don't think theirs another person on the planet who could of done as well, but for the rest ..Prince Andrew globe trotting playing golf with dodgy dictators, but its only costing us 80p so that's all right then.....the monarchy should be put in the dustbin of History along with the Lords .....So Lyn we will have to agree to disagree.

Frankly, I really couldn't care less about the monarchy - another mouth to feed.
I do though find it amazing that you should talk in terms of "you sure do like bringing up the past". I have been following your posts over the past few years and the one thing that has come across is your deep seated hatred of the British, due to events which took place almost 200 years ago. I suspect that your views are firmly located in the bull***t propaganda that you were fed as a kid back in the good ole Republic.
"Bringing up the past" indeed.

Where exactly have I said anything pro-monarchy? I couldn't care less about the monarchy.
Can has a lot of "form" wrt slagging off the British at any available opportunity - when he/she is not advocating destroying all the Jews that is.
My point was that it's the sort of classroom c-rap that you see all around the world. You end up with the likes of Scots hating the English for what happened at Culloden and young, hate-filled Irishmen/women murdering people for things that Cromwell instigated.

  • A nurse at a London hospital who took a hoax call about the Duchess of Cambridge has been found dead.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said in a statement they were deeply saddened by the death of the nurse, named as Jacintha Saldanha.
Police were called at 09:35 GMT to reports of a woman found unconscious at an address in central London.
Details of the pregnant Duchess's medical condition were unwittingly revealed to two Australian DJs.
The pair, from Sydney radio station 2Day FM, posed as the Queen and Prince Charles.

" Jacintha Saldanha, a nurse at the hospital which treated the Duchess of Cambridge, has been found dead in a suspected suicide after she was duped by a hoax caller from an Australian radio station."
" Michael Christian, the DJ who pretended to be the Prince of Wales, apologised earlier this week but carried on tweeting about it and only this morning tweeted: "MORE on the #royalprank after 7.30 tonight."

This poor nurse as you say what pressure must have been on her to push her to do such a thing and all in the name of " having a laugh ". Callous - or what?
" As late as 5pm yesterday, more than seven hours after Mrs Saldanha’s death, 2Day FM’s website was still plugging its royal scoop, which one of the presenters insisted was just a 'big fat joke'."

Telling words I think:

"King Edward VII’s Hospital cares for sick people, and it was extremely foolish of your presenters even to consider trying to lie their way through to one of our patients, let alone actually make the call."

" The immediate consequence of these premeditated and ill-considered actions was the humiliation of two dedicated and caring nurses who were simply doing their job tending to their patients.
"The longer term consequence has been reported around the world and is, frankly, tragic beyond words.
"I appreciate that you cannot undo the damage which has been done but I would urge you to take steps to ensure that such an incident could never be repeated."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/kate-middleton/9731717/Duchess-of-Cambridge-hospital-accuses-DJs-of-humiliating-nurses-with-prank-call.html
"It is not the first time the station has been condemned. In 2009, the Australian Communications and Media Authority imposed a licence condition for five years ordering 2Day FM to provide increased protection for children after a 14-year-old was attached to a lie detector test and admitted to being raped live on air. Different presenters to the two who phoned the hospital, but the girl had previously told them she had been raped at the age of 12 "I've already told you the story about this, and don't look at me and smile because it's not funny, Oh OK, I got raped when I was 12 years old"

Scotland Yard is understood to have asked police in Sydney for assistance, with a view to interviewing the two DJs ahead of an inquest into Ms Saldanha's death........................................Ms Greig and Mr Christian (the 2 DJs concerned) have so far remained tight-lipped after the incident, and are receiving 'intensive psychological counselling' to deal with the tragedy, the Australian said.
