Hi all, we are travelling to Cyprus in March with the sole intention of purchasing furniture etc, to spruce up our apartment. We wish to purchase such items as double-sofa bed/dining table & chairs/replacement curtains/bedroom dressing table & mirror etc, my query is as we are only staying for one week is this possible. We will need all items to be delivered within a day or so of purchasing (obviously to give us time to arrange them inside the apartment ). Would you pay the full amount on purchasing, or retain an amount until delivered. One final question how do I get rid of the existing furniture as they are quite bulky, will they be collected with the refuse ? regards Phil.

Pissarides in Larnaca usually deliver the next day (they usually apologise that they can't do it sooner!) with payment up front. Possible down side is that not all staff have English so either you need passable Greek or good sign language! As for the old stuff I know of a charity that collects so if you are near enough to Pervolia I could put you in touch?

Ikea may be the answer to your problem.

Phil, There are loads of furniture shops in Paralimni. Most deliver immediately if it is in stock and will also assemble it in your room of choice. We paid up front. We used: Soteriou for bedroom and dining furniture. Elizantre for coffee tables. Novo for leather suite. Found them all offered excellent service and good value. You could use IKEA in Nicosia and make it a one stop shop. Paul.

I would go to Ikea as well but make sure you do it one of the first days to leave you time to assemble all the furniture! Not sure how it works in Cyprus but here in the UK large items such as sofas sometimes have to be ordered. They have many in stock, though, so you should be fine. Also, sofas are not self assembly...
