We paid 316 euros each return LCA-VIE but go to Austria Airlines and get the price of your choice. The Bus runs every half hour from the airport to Bratislava, takes one hour and costs 14.30 euros p.p. return. We rented a swanky apartment for 8 days and paid 450 euros. It had a PC with broadband, sat TV with 50 channels incl. BBC World and CNN. Kitchen was a dream. A bit outside the centre but the trolleybus stops at the door and takes about 10 mins. to the centre. If you are interested I can email photos as soon as I get the hang of this new camera programme.

Hi all! Just come back from a week's holiday in Bratislava, Slovakia. You get 5-star cuisine there for less than the price of a boring old meze here. The city seems to consist of brilliant reastaurants and all surprisingly cheap. Fastinating things to see, and the wines are wonderful too. Dead easy to get there: Austrian Airlines to Vienna at special price ("red ticket") and express bus from the airport - one hour to Bratislava. You will find the urban transport network is very good but quite hard to understand. We got a week's "go anywhere" ticket from an automat for 12 euros each but needed to find 24 euros in change because the machine only takes coins.

I lived in Slovakia for a little over a year, in a town called Nitra, which is about a 45 minute drive from Bratislava. I really liked living in Slovakia - it is clean, the people are very friendly, the food is good as is the beer and wine. I'd go back there in a heartbeat (of course, I'd go just about anywhere but Bulgaria, where I live now but hopefully not for long). RyanAir flies into Bratislava and Vienna is only a 1 hour bus ride away so there are lots of transportation options to get to Bratislava. Did you try the Halushki? It's the national dish. Great meal for a cold winter day. Roseanne
