Well done everybody, Hattie I hate to say this because you've done so well (you must have been a DJ in aprevious life!) but No1 is wrong, both in title and artist................have another go.

Posted By: brian16

Carol, you are right, the Turtles did record "Eve of Destruction" but Barry Maguire was the one that made it famous.

Here's a one-off................... Who made the first recording of "Don't cry for me Argentina"? and what was the name of the popular 70's TV programme she starred in with two other girls? Easy, this one!

You are too good for this game, looks like I'm going to have to work on No.3 Just to make it a bit more difficult this time, I'll write the words in Mandarin Chinese

I have most of them Brian (yes 'fraid I am that old!) I think I 'mis'remembered the title so see below - they may be the lyrics in another song but I remember them from this song - always did like this one. I'm afraid I've 'googled' to see who else may have sung it and came up with Bob Lind?:
Elusive Butterfly - Glenn Campbell
You might wake up some morning
To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind
And if you're quick enough to rise
You'll catch the fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow
Out on the new horizon you may see the floating motion of a distant pair of wings
And if the sleep has left your ears
You might hear footsteps running through an open meadow
Don't be concerned it will not harm you
It's only me pursuing something I'm not sure of
Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love
You might have heard my footsteps
Echo softly in the distance through the canyons of your mind
I might have even called your name as I ran searching after something to believe in You might have seen me runnin'
Through the long abandonned ruins of the dreams you left behind
If you remember something there
That glided past you followed close by heavy breathing
Don't be concerned it will not harm you
It's only me pursuing something I'm not sure of
Across my dreams with nets of wonder I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love
I chase the bright butterfly of love I chase the bright butterfly of love
Bu-bu-bu-butterfly of love bu-bu-bu-butterfly of lov

Julie Covington and the programme was The Rock Follies - watched it regularly - the two other girls were Charlotte Cornwell and Rula Lenska (who went on to marry and then divorce Dennis Waterman from Minder - couldn't understand what she ever saw in the man though. Never liked him.)

Looks like I missed the chance of not having a night out with 'Our Brian' ... I should be so PLUCKY, Plucky plucky plucky.

You'll just have to try harder in Round3 Linda

Hattie, many thanks for writing the words of Elusive Butterfly for us, so you got that bit right..................however, you're still WRONG with the artist, I'm afraid I can only give you one more go before I send you to the bottom of the class. Other artists such as Val Doonican and Glenn Campbell may well have recorded it too, but I'm looking for the original artist who had the hit with it. Julie Covington and "Rock Follies" are correct, well done!

Slightly off-thread, but can anyone tell me the actor who played Jack Regan alongside Dennis Waterman in "The Sweeney"? In which city was this actor born and raised? Who was the famous police detective he went on to become? Who is his wife in real life? What was the detective's first name? In which city was the series set? What was the name of his sergeant? In which series did this sergeant become famous? Name the most famous character from the same series. What was the actor's name? In which film did this actor play alongside Madonna? What was the name of the series (and single) did this actor star in? That'll keep you thinking for a bit!!

Apologies Hattie, stay at the top of the class, I hadn't noticed your mention of Bob Lind.............he's the one who had the hit with it, a one-hit wonder I think, however I have to deduct a mark because you googled!
