"The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs according to which cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on 21 December 2012."
" ViewZone asked me to write a story about the Mayan Calendar. There is a common belief that the calendar holds a prophecy that the world will end"
"Many people believe the Mayan calendar represents the end of the world by December 21, 2012 through a doomsday or apocalypse scenario".

Please don't get upset Mr Tibbs - it's probably a primitive form of computer modelling. Prefer Leon, but, why not? Cheers Alex

"China fears end of the world is nigh
China is taking the date of December 21 - the day the world is due to end - seriously, with panic buying of candles sweeping through counties."

"If the Mayans are right, I won’t pay my credit card bill," was one popular post.

All my local shops are out of candles. Built my anderson shelter and stocked it with tin and packet food, blankets and loads of water, a little gaz stove, all I need now is the candles. I keep going into shops and as I ask "do you have" and before I get any further they say, "If you want candles we've run out. Going on about candles reminds me of the 2 Ronnies and the Fork handles not 4 candles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz2-ukrd2VQ
